Who I am....

I'm glad you found your way into my online seed store :)

Hi, my name is Gabriele, but like everybody else, you can call me Turtlegaby.
I am German and 5 years ago I moved from Germany to Alabama, you guess why...
Yeah, you all know the story of the American soldier and the German girl that fell in love

Unfortunately the love didn't last very long, and I had to find something that keeps me occupied and gives me some sense in my life. I found great pleasure working in the yard and landscaping it, and after a year of hard work, I harvested my own seeds, which I tried to sell on Ebay. I never expected them to sell that well, but soon I had to find wholesale seed suppliers, because my own plants didn't produce enough any more ;)

That was the time when I first opened an Ebay store. It was very obvious for me to focus more in the tropical and exoitc direction, since there have been already many seed sellers of indigenous seeds. My seed business grew and kept me busy around the clock. After 2 years, I decided to open my own web store, where I could be more flexible with my quantities and prices.

And here I am. You certainly want to know, why my name is Turtlegaby....

I was passionate about turtles already when I was a little child. At the age of 3 I saw the first tortoise at a neighbors yard and from that day on I spent every minute to visit and play with this tortoise. I fell so much in love with her, that I bothered my Mom day and night, until she finally agreed to buy one. She was the cutest thing on earth and fit into my little hands. I called her Mathilde.

Mathilde was the joy of the whole family and kept us all busy. She was used to escape and we had to find her in the big yard we had. Sometimes she burried herself into the ground and my parents and I searched her for hours. When I turned 18, a friend of mine brought me as birthday present an other tortoise. It was a male and we called him Max. Mathilde and Max got very well along with each other, but never produced any offspring. Well, all my friends called me Turtlegaby, because they all knew how crazy I was about turtles. Years later, I got the chance to join a turtle club where I became official a turtle myself with a real ID card.

When I opened my Ebay account, it was very obvious for me that it had to be with the name Turtlegaby. I guess, people liked this name, because I noticed, that this was the most searched word in the search engines. They didn't search for plant or seed names, they searched for Turtlegaby. Of course, my store got the same name and so did my web store.

Here are the 3 tortoises, Daisy, Cocoa and Georgy,

that I adopted 5 years ago. They are Redfoots and my whole pride. Very social and tame, and always hungry. They gained already 20 times of their original weight and are real heavy guys now.

Cocoa and Georgy became parents, and in May 2008 my first sweet baby hatched. His name is Kiwi, he is the most beautiful little sweetheart on earth. 3 of his sisters and brothers are still in the incubator and we all hope they will hatch soon and be healthy too.
