Cleome gets it's nickname "Spider Flower" from the spidery-like flowers with long, waving stamen which are held on tall, strong leafy stems. It is one of the few annuals that looks at home among shrubs and perennials. Planted in mass, they look like blooming shrubbery with 8-inch balls of blossoms. They will reach a height of 6 feet in a good season.

Violet Queen. Cherry Queen, Pink Queen and Helen Campbell (white) are among the most popular cultivars. You will get all of them in a mixed package.

Sowing instructions

Germination requires warm temperature. Mid spring is the best season for seeding if you grow cleomes outside, however you can enjoy the flowers longer if you start them inside when it is still cool in early summer. Because their single root grow long and straight and they do not like to be transplanted, it is recommended to plant them directly. Spacing is required when they are about 1inch tall. Because they grow big, it is proper to keep 2 or 3 of them in a large container.
